YOUTH POET LAUREATE APPLICATIONS DUE

ATTENTION rappers, poets, writers, and wordsmiths: you (yes YOU) can apply to be Seattle's Youth Poet Laureate! Along with the prestigious title of Seattle Youth Poet Laureate, the winning poet will also receive a book deal from Penmanship Books to publish their first collection of poems. What a cool opportunity! Your writing can be in a book, all you have to do to begin your journey to fame is apply.

Calling all future leaders! During this FREE day-long event, teens will learn strategies for making an impact on issues that matter to them through engaging workshops, hands-on activities, inspiring guest speakers, and will even have the chance to win $1,000 in startup capital to launch their own non-profit organization. Unexpected Productions

In Improv for Teens, you will learn the fundamentals of good improvisation through games and exercises. Explore the basics of storytelling and spontaneous scene creation through strong characters, listening, narrative, self-confidence, spontaneity, and basic stage skills. The focus will be on creating ensemble work in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. Sound like a fun way to spend four weeks? We think so, too! Murder for Two - April 7, 2017
The Secret Garden - April 21, 2017

Especially for high school students with an interest in musical theater, these workshops give students the opportunity to create the characters, sing the songs, learn the choreography, and meet with the cast and crew for the productions on the 5th Ave's stage. At each workshop, the participants enjoy a pizza party, see the show, and attend a talkback with the cast after the evening's performance--all for only $25! SEATTLE OPERA TRAINING PROGRAMS

July 16 - August 6, 2017 (but the registration is open NOW)

Seattle Opera has launched a new chapter in its commitment to training young artists and preparing singers for opera careers with its new Seattle Opera Academy. Presented in collaboration with Seattle Youth Symphony’s Marrowstone Music Festival, this three-week intensive training program for singers ages 16-22 offers two different programs of study: The Principal Artist Program and the Opera Chorus Program. All students participating in either program will also attend masterclasses and electives. Sound like fun? Check it out! Although this is a summer program, applications are now being accepted. Don't wait to apply!
