NAAM’s Freedom Weekend celebrates the 60th anniversary of the historic civil rights March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This year, we are partnering with the MLK Commemoration Committee to honor the historic 1963 March on Washington with three days of free events. The theme is Dream Unfinished: Not a Commemoration, but a Continuation.
On the third day, the MLK Commemoration Committee will host a community panel discussion at NAAM. The panel will reflect on the progress made and not yet achieved, the importance of inspiring change, how we can empower our future, and explore methods of building a just society. The panel will be comprised of community leaders, including labor and elected officials. A Q&A will follow allowing attendees to ask questions or make comments. A complementary variety of ethnic dishes will be served.
