The TeenTix Press Corps is presenting a Dance Criticism Pop-Up Workshop at Meany Center for the Performing Arts! This workshop is a two-day experience, with meetings on February 22 & 23, 2020. You'll learn how to approach writing about dance, attend a performance of Grupo Corpo and try your hand at writing a dance review! The workshop will be taught by Seattle-based dance journalist and artist, Kaitlin McCarthy.

This workshop is free and includes a ticket to see Grupo Corpo at Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington.

Teens must commit to attending both days in order to participate.
This workshop is limited to 8 teens.


Saturday, February 22

6:30 PM - Pre-show lesson at Meany Center

8 PM - Attend Grupo Corpo performance at Meany Center

Sunday, February 23

12-2 PM - Discussion/Lesson at TeenTix Office in the Seattle Center Armory

Snacks will be provided at all meetings.

Teaching Artist

Kaitlin McCarthy is a Seattle-based dance artist, writer, and teacher. She has choreographed and performed across the city, as well as toured nationally and internationally as a dancer with MALACARNE Dance Company under the direction of Alice Gosti. As a freelance writer she has regularly contributed to City Arts Magazine, Dance International Magazine, and SeattleDances, where she is also the Editorial Director. Kaitlin is also a teaching artist at Velocity Dance Center.
