Boren Banner Series: Chloe King
Wednesday, September 2, 2026, All Day; additional 29 dates below.
Chloe King’s vividly layered, monumental compositions project a surreal vision of contemporary existence. For their Boren Banner—the artist’s first museum presentation in Seattle—King extends their ongoing inquiry into the politics of the dance floor, exploring Queer nightlife as a site of both refuge and risk. Drawing on the dilapidated, improvised, and occasionally illicit spaces that shape “the scene,” their work considers how the dance floor becomes a stage for radical joy and collective reinvention, where bodies move, histories revise, and new worlds take shape under the pulse of the strobe.
ABOUT THE BOREN BANNER SERIES
The Boren Banner Series reflects the museum’s commitment to showcasing work by Pacific Northwest artists. This biannual series gives regional artists the opportunity to present a piece as a monumental, 16 x 20 ft. vinyl “banner” prominently sited facing Boren Avenue—the Frye’s most visible and accessible physical interface.
