In the far reaches of northwestern China lies Dunhuang, a cultural crossroads of the ancient Silk Road, famed for its hundreds of caves filled with Buddhist frescoes depicting music and dance. Inspired by these vivid murals, the Eurasia Consort brings the sounds of the Tang Dynasty back to life more than 1,200 years later. Through reconstructed instruments, ancient performance practices, and a spirit of discovery, the ensemble founded by Tomoko Sugawara and Gus Denhard invites audiences to experience this ancient musical heritage.
