The Ripple Effect Black Creators Making Waves in New Media - SBFF
April 25 | 7:30
Join us for the first ever SBFF Industry Night, where creatives such as directors, actors, producers, and all folks under the term 'filmmakers' can mingle under the warm glow of ambient lighting and get connected to professional resources. This year's debut focus is Black content creators.
The content creator to media mogul pipeline is transforming the landscape of black film and television. Issa Rae leveraged the popularity of her YouTube series Awkward Black Girl to pen a deal with HBO and debut Insecure. Quinta Brunson transformed from viral social media sensation to the creator of award-winning series Abbott Elementary. Black creators are using their own devices to show that the path to the mainstream can begin on the small screen. This year, Seattle Black Film Festival partners with Heye Frequency to present The Ripple Effect: Black Creators Making Waves in New Media. Join us in conversation with viral creators Rome Green Jr., Cameron Miller, and more for a candid talk on charting your own path in today's creator landscape.
