TeenTix Adds 50th Partner Organization

(Seattle, WA) – TeenTix, an arts access and engagement program for teenagers, is pleased to announce the addition of its forty-ninth and fiftieth partner organizations, Edmonds Center for the Arts and University of Washington Undergraduate Theatre Society (UW UTS).

“I was a part of UTS when I was an undergrad at UW, so it’s really fun to mark this milestone with them,” says TeenTix Executive Director Holly Arsenault. “But we’re focused on the next fifty. We’re going to keep working hard to make more art affordable and accessible for teens.”

TeenTix was founded in 2004 by Seattle Center and in partnership with ten of the resident arts organizations on the Seattle Center campus. Its mission is to empower young people to engage with the arts as leaders, critics, patrons, and audience members. In 2014, TeenTix will make a planned transition from Seattle Center public program to independent organization in-residence at Seattle Center.

TeenTix partner organizations participate in a broad range of strategies for engaging young people, including hosting special events, providing mentors for young arts leaders, and selling five-dollar, day-of-event tickets to TeenTix passholders. Since 2004, TeenTix has facilitated the sale of over 40,000 arts tickets to teens.

Edmonds Center for the Arts presents a broad range of programming encompassing theatre, music, dance, comedy, and lecture series as well as community forums, receptions, and events. ECA presents national and international acts such as Lyle Lovett, Rufus Wainwright, and the Indigo Girls. For more information, visit www.edmondscenterforthearts.org.

UW UTS is a theater company run by undergraduates in the University of Washington School of Drama. This year, UW UTS will present five mainstage shows and a full slate of special events in the Cabaret Theatre in Hutchinson Hall on the University of Washington campus. Other organizations that have joined the TeenTix partner roster this year include Town Hall, Early Music Guild, and Jet City Improv. For a full list of partners, visit www.teentix.org/partners.
