TeenTix’s Tech Committee is composed of Board members and Volunteers who work together annually to support TeenTix’s tech projects. Unlike most small nonprofits working in the arts, technology is an integral part of our core program functionality, the TeenTix Pass Program. Through participation in this program, teens 13-19 years old can find events at our 100+ Partner organizations to attend for $5 with their TeenTix Pass. Key components of this program include our custom website with a robust calendar, and teen membership database with individualized physical and digital QR-code TeenTix Passes, a mobile app built to scan QR code passes at the door when purchasing tickets, and a reporting solution to support TeenTix and our Partners understanding of our teen audiences.

The Tech Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of these projects as well as identifying long-term requirements, maintenance and growth solutions.

YOUR ROLE
As a volunteer member of the committee, you will have a hands-on role in steering the present and future of TeenTix’s technical footprint, enabling teens to connect with art in Seattle, LA, and beyond. This will including leadership of core features for the TeenTix website, data warehouse, and app, breaking down work into discrete opportunities for TeenTix’s volunteer corps, training and mentoring volunteers and future technical volunteer leads, and implementation of features and bug fixes, all with a focus on extensibility and maintainability to help this small, scrappy, and mighty organization serve the community. You will be a core member of TeenTix’s leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a volunteer position. The Tech Committee currently has three people and we’re looking to add a few more people this year to help us grow! We listed some responsibilities below that are things you might do on the committee. As a volunteer, we expect your involvement to be as little or as big as you are able to accommodate.

  • Collaborate with TeenTix staff and board to identify technology investments to support programming

  • Establish and refine work that engineering contractors and volunteers will take on

  • Set best practices for the organization based on your technical experience

  • Attend volunteer engineering sessions helping focus work of volunteers

  • Attend regular meetings with the Tech Committee

QUALIFICATIONS
The main qualification is a strong interest in using technology to support TeenTix’s mission! If you’re excited about that, we’d love to chat with you.

Here are some things that we think would be helpful to our organization. Don’t worry if you don’t meet all of them, or even any of them.

  • Experience building software, websites, or data warehouses

  • Experience driving multi-month projects with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations
