Arts Corps is a leading non-profit arts education organization dedicated to developing creative habits of mind in young people. Based in Seattle, Washington, Arts Corps bring hands-on arts classes to youth with little or no other access to arts learning opportunities, predominately children in low income communities of color.
We go to where young people already are – their schools, community centers and housing sites – to ensure maximum access.
We hire exceptional teaching artists who are mentors, teachers and practicing artists who expand creative possibility for young people.
In 2012, Arts Corps was awarded the highest national honor in community based arts education by the White House, The National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award.
"Arts Corps recognizes the need for art to act as a liberatory process and works to expand the opportunities for both our students and teaching artists. Creating art can be a personal act of liberation, and when done collectively we can transform schools, neighborhoods, and beyond. With a mission of revolutionizing arts education by igniting the creative power of young people through culturally engaging learning experiences, Arts Corps embraces arts education in the context of social change."
