Teen Editorial Staff Applications

Two TEDS meetings per month (every other Thursday evening, one in person, one by zoom)

Approximately 5-10 hours/week throughout the school year

Weekend and evening flexibility to attend art events

Plus a mandatory Editorial Intensive the week of August 14th, tentatively August 13-15 (Sunday-Tuesday), 10-3 PM in-person meetings each day.

Compensation:

$50/month stipend

Stipends are given out each month based on performance in five key categories: communication, deadlines, editing, attendance, and participation.

Editors also receive a complimentary press ticket to each event for which they are the Lead Editor.

TEDS Duties:

• Work collaboratively with fellow Teen Editorial Staff Members to curate and select which events at TeenTix Arts Partners to cover each month
• Collaboratively choose a monthly theme, and write an editorial about that theme
• Maintain the Teen Editorial Staff inbox, and respond to press inquiries in a timely manner
• Act as the Lead Editor for one review per month. Lead Editor duties include:
  • Communicating with TeenTix Newsroom writers to secure a writer for the event
  • Communicating with TeenTix Arts Partners to set up press tickets, secure photos, and share finished reviews
  • Attend art event with Newsroom Writer
  • Edit Newsroom Writer’s review in a constructive and respectful manner
  • Keep track of and meet all editing and review submission deadlines
• Plan and lead quarterly TeenTix Newsroom meetings
• Participate in mentorship opportunities - write reviews and be edited and mentored by professional critics
• Participate in producing the TeenTix Arts Podcast once per semester
• Communicate regularly with the Teen Programs Director
• Attend occasional board meetings and TeenTix events as a representative of the Press Corps

• Submit a one page letter of intent
• Include a 300-word writing sample: a review of an art event
• Answer several scheduling questions
• Answer several demographic questions

Applicants must also submit a Letter of Recommendation.

Letters of Recommendation should be submitted via this Google Form.

Letters should speak to the applicant’s accountability, responsibility, leadership and communication skills. They may be written by a peer collaborator, a teacher, coach, boss, or mentor.

Letters of Recommendation must be submitted by midnight on Monday, May 19th. Please notify your recommend-er far in advance of the due date, in order to allow adequate time for them to submit their letter.
