DANCE

Samba w/ Live Music @ Abbey Arts
Mondays, 7 - 8:30 PM (drop-ins ok)
All ages
With a live Brazilian band, you will learn dances marked by the driving, rapturous beat of Samba. Remember to wear comfortable, flexible clothing! More info here.

Summer at Spectrum @ Spectrum Dance Theater
June - August 2018
Various ages, check listings
Take a summer intensive, study with Donald Byrd, or get your dance + drama on at SDT this summer! You'll gain a deeper understanding of technique and focus on form, rhythm, and more in these fun and educational classes that will get your body in motion.

FILM

NFFTY 2018 Submissions @ National Film Festival for Talented Youth
Final Submission Deadline: July 20
Ages 24 and under
Spend your summer making a film! If you're a young filmmaker, this is the perfect opportunity to create something you can share with the world. Just make sure that you submit your creation by July 20--and the earlier you do it, the cheaper the submission fee. Get more info on film guidelines and how to apply here!

Filmmaking Workshops @ NW Film Forum

Choose from Citizen Minutes: Video Activism Camp or the Film Academy Intensive and have yourself a film-tastic summer! Scholarships are available for both courses. Learn more about these programs here!



Call the Shots Summer Day-Camp @ Reel Grrls
August 13 - 17, 2018
Grades 8 - 12
Learn the ropes of filmmaking and video production through this hands-on day-camp where you will build skills and focus through creative storytelling and one-on-one mentoring sessions with professional filmmakers and teaching artists. Tacoma Film Camps @ The Grand Cinema
June 25 - August 25, 2018
Ages 13 - 19
Get hands-on training for various aspects of filmmaking: pre-and post-production, storyboards, screenwriting, lighting, sound, and MORE with this day camp! Participants develop skills such as leadership, collaboration, and technological and technical skills. Plus, it all culminates with a screening for your friends and family! Learn more and register.

Scribes Summer Camps @ Hugo House
July - August, 2018
Grades 6 - 12
No writing experience necessary--just a passion for putting pen to paper! Programming includes instruction from accomplished writers, field trips, writing activities, craft exercises, and exposure to a diverse range of genres, forms, and writers. Youth Poet Laureate Program @ Seattle Arts & Lectures

Ages 14 - 19
Are you comitted to poetry & performance, civic & community engagement, and education & equity? You could be Seattle's next Youth Poet Laureate! You'll get to publish a collection of poems in addition to getting numerous opportunities to share your powerful voice. Apply right now!

MUSIC

Rhythm Generation: Intergenerational Marimba Camp @ Edmonds Center for the Arts
July 23 - 27, 2018
Ages 13 - 19 (and Seniors)
Learn to play the Marimba, then learn to teach the Marimba: you're the instructor for a group of Seniors in the afternoon session! This camp provides leadership and mentor opportunities to every generation. Learn more about this unique experience here.

The Residency @ MoPOP
Jully 23 - August 17, 2018
Ages 16 - 19
If hip-hop is your thing, The Residency was made for you. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis team up with MoPOP and Arts Corps to bring you this four-week program that focuses on creative songwriting, performance techniques, and beat production. Participants will get a stipend AND a professional studio recording of their original music. Certain restrictions apply. See if you qualify! Deadline to apply is May 21.

Summer Camps @ Rain City Rock Camp for Girls
July - August, 2018
Ages 8 - 19
Take your pick from several programs that RCRC has to offer! Campers come for a weeklong crash course in playing an instrument, songwriting, social justice and empowerment workshops and more! At the end of the week, campers get to perform their original song with their band at a local live music venue. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, just the will to ROCK. SYSO Summer Music @ SYSO
July 9 - 27, 2018
Ages 7 - 14
Choose from two sessions, and enjoy small group ensemble and full orchestral work taught by talented and committed music teachers. The two-week programs conclude with a student concert for the entire family! You must already play an instrument (and have at least two years' experience under your belt). Learn more!

OPERA

Teen Music Theatre Workshop @ Seattle Opera
July 9 - 13, 2018
Even if you're new to singing or an old pro, this skill-building experience will cater to your level of experience! Learn basic vocal technique or hone your craft with teaching artists who will help you communicate character motive and improve the depth of your storytelling through singing and acting. Sessions will also include movement activities with a professional choreographer. Discover new ways to express yourself with the art of opera!

THEATER

Dive into a zany Shakespearean comedy full of disguises, tricks, and lovable clowns! You'll read scenes, practice acting techniques, and learn to create and successfully execute comedic stage combat. The week culminates in a showcase for family and friends! Register now.

Learn all the inner workings behind the scenes of a theatre. First, you'll focus on lighting and sound boards, then you'll use your new skills to serve as the crew for the Summer Musical Workshop. Sign up today!

Emerging Artist Program @ INTIMAN

Join the program for up-and-coming diverse local artists that gathers during the summer for professional training and development, preparing them to work professionally in the region. Summer Camps @ Stroum Jewish Community Center
June 18 - August 24, 2018
Grades 6 - 8 & 9-10
For the younger crowd, you can choose from a TON of food classes, robotics, photography, dissection, or Minecraft. The older teens have the opportunity to go through the Counselor in Training (CIT) program, learning how to work with kids, be a role model, and prepare to be future camp counselors at the SJCC. Take your pick!
